Background
Tanganyika Instant Coffee Company was established in 1963 and became operational in 1966. It produces spray dried instant coffee of different blends for domestic and export markets. The plant has a capacity of 500 tones a year and currently is the only instant coffee factory in East and Central Africa.
Production Process
Pure coffee beans are roasted, ground and extracted to get liquor. The liquor is spray dried to pure instant coffee powder with no additives. This is packed in bulk ready for repacking into smaller packs as required.
Packaging
Bulk: Available in 25 and 30 kg net weight cartons for export and domestic retail packers. A 20ft container accommodates 200 cartons. A 40ft container will take 400 cartons.
Retail: Available in Tanica Cafe and Kilimanjaro Cafe trade marks as follows;
- Tins 50 g, 100 g and 250 g net
- Plastic packets 250 g and 500gm net
- Tanica cafe and Kilimanjaro sachets
